New Membership / Membership Reinstatements / Post Transfers

You've probably heard of The American Legion, which is America's largest veterans organization. We're veterans, nearly 3 million strong, who care about America, veterans and their families and our nation's youth. The Legion is a powerful voice in Washington dedicated to preserving the rights we've all earned and were promised by service to our nation in uniform.
If you are on active duty today, anywhere in the world, or have served during any eligible war eras (see below), you are a veteran and you're eligible to become a Legionnaire too!
If so, we invite you to join us. Not only will you carry the distinction within our community of being a Tri-City Legionnaire, but you will share in an impressive array of membership benefits. (Visit the National Headquarters' Website for the most current and up-to-date information on Membership Benefits.) Further, you can be assured that the American Legion will always there for you and your family in Washington and at nearly 15,000 local posts, throughout America and abroad, whose members will welcome you as a fellow Legionnaire. Just like you, we're "Still Serving America!"
Eligible War Eras
If you have served federal active duty in the armed forces during any of these war eras, and have been honorably discharged or are still serving you can join the The American Legion!

To join the American Legion and Tri-City Post 513, stop by our office at 400 Old Highway #8 (weekdays between 9 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.), complete a brief application form, and pay the first year's dues. Proof of eligibility (your DD-214) must accompany your application. Please note that prior to Vietnam, other forms were used, such as DD-256, DD-257, and DD-217. Whichever form is submitted, it must show dates of active duty. (Your Discharge Certificate may not be sufficient, since in many cases it does not show the actual dates of active duty.) For World War II Merchant Marines, you must have a copy of your DD-214 from the Army, Navy or Coast Guard, which grants you veteran's status.)
If you have been absent from membership for a period of time, it's also easy to reinstate your membership. Follow the same instructions, as noted above for New Membership.
If you are currently a member of another American Legion Post, but would like to transfer your membership to Tri-City American Legion Post #513, again, stop at the Tri City legion or call to make an appointment 651-631-1124 to complete the necessary steps for the transfer of your membership.
If you have any further questions about Membership in the American Legion (or if you would like membership information for the Auxiliary or the Sons of the American Legion), please contact us by phone (651-631-1124) or by e-mail (below) -- or stop by our office at the Post!!!
